Town Plaza to Brown Farm Walk, August 29, Saturday, 9am, 4 miles.

This Saturday Sebastopol Walks will be visiting the new Laguna de Santa Rosa trail routes proposed by the Open Space District.  This is a wonderful opportunity to see more of our treasured Laguna with a group of women docents that know it quite well.

Below is the announcement sent out by two of the organizers: Mayor Sarah Gurney and Richard Nichols, the author of Sebastopol Walks.  For more information call 823-3032 or send a note to info@sebastopol.org.

The public is invited to take part in the 8th in a series of walks in and about Sebastopol. Join Laguna docents for an exploration of Laguna land not open to the public. This south of Highway 12 hike will follow Laguna trail routes proposed by the Open Space District. From the Plaza the route will follow the RodotaTrail to the Railroad forest and Brown Farm, with a break under big valley oaks. Docents will discuss Laguna plants and animals, and the importance of wetland habitats. Leaders: Christine Fontaine, Education Programs Director and Laguna docents Christine Engel, Marcia Johnson, Ramona Haller & Sandra Bodley.

Meet at the Sebastopol town plaza at 9 a.m. The 4-mile route over easy terrain will take about 3 hours. Sturdy shoes and light colored clothes (to identify ticks) and long pants are recommended. Bring water, snacks, a hat, sunscreen, and binoculars.

Each month, Sebastopol Walks offers a variety urban and rural walks on the last Saturday. Everyone is welcome. Sponsored by the City of Sebastopol, The Sebastopol Chamber of Commerce and Palm Drive Hospital.
