Sonoma County Fairgrounds, Santa Rosa, 7/28 – 8/9, http://www.sonomacountyfair.com/scf_sustainable.php

This year, under the direction of Leslie Lukacs, the County Fair has expanded its Sustainable Sonoma Area. Throughout each and every day, visitors can view eco-art, earth friendly products and hands-on demonstrations at a wide variety of business, government and non-profit booths.

Kids of all ages will have numerous opportunities to craft art from recycled goods. On Sunday, August 2, people who bring in a “Trashosaurus” dinosaur made from recycled materials can get in free! There will also be a dinosaur parade and prizes awarded at 4:15pm.

Each afternoon from 1-5pm, farmers, ranchers and artisan producers will offer free, local organic food and wine tasting, and chefs will teach cooking classes focused on food sourced within 150 miles. At 2 and 4 pm green experts will speak on an array of subjects including food systems, recycling, reuse and repair opportunities, backyard composting, water and energy conservation, renewable energy and greening your home and business.

If you are planning to go to the fair, please stop on by!
